Thursday night of 26^th September was a night like no other. Not even the rains dampened the yellow chic studded event at The Junction mall. Looking at their trailer views, this film had already gotten the most views for any local film. As at the time of writing, it was at 187,000. The new production house to enter the Film foray, Giraffe Africa Films already has a bright future. Founded by Nick Mutuma, the production company embarked on an ambitious journey to film the movie in seven days, a feat not small.

The story follows the tale of jilted lovers Kingsley and Sofia who coincidentally meet at a job interview and are forced to work together. Both of them need the job badly and have to overcome their awkwardness of talking to each other and work out their chemistry as co-anchors in Legibra TV Station.

Fans were dished with funnies right from the start of the movie. Third wheel Morris Mwangi was definitely a fan favourite with the audience cheering with his every appearance. Lady killer, Nick Mutuma, who doubled as Lead Actor (Kingsley) and Director never disappointed at all. Tanzanian songstress Mimi Mars made her debut in the film industry, acting as Sofia.

You Again offers a rom com, a genre rarely seen on Kenyan film and Nick Mutuma acknowledged how hard it was to sell the initial idea to investors. He thanked the open mindedness of Switch TV that readily accepted the idea. The film is the first this year to be locally funded by local players.

Film Hosting

The film is still on a hunt to find a home where Kenyan viewers will see it. Netflix maybe? We will just have to wait and see. (Available to view on Youtube)

Frankly speaking, what drew me to this film the first time was the quality of cinematography from the trailer that had the must-see effect. Much credit also has to be given to the crew, hard to believe how they pulled of such quality in an even shorter time.
